Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a high molecular weight polymer, known for its versatility and usefulness in a wide range of products for various applications. It is not a rubber compound, but rather a thermoplastic resin of fluoroethylene. PTFE O-rings are frequently specified in applications where operating conditions make the use of conventional rubber elastomers impractical. They can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 500°F and are impervious to a wide variety of chemicals. Additionally, they have the lowest coefficient of friction of any O-ring material. Our PTFE O-ring kit consists of 325 pieces in various AS568 sizes, including a contents identification card that shows sizes, dimensions, and silhouettes. The material is 55 Durometer (Shore D) Virgin PTFE. The included AS568 sizes and quantities are as follows: 15 each of 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010, 011, and 012; 10 each of 013, 014, 015, 016, 017, and 018; 10 each of 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, and 116; and 5 each of 117, 118, 119, 120, and 121, as well as 5 each of 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 218, and 219.
Teflon O-rings, made of PTFE, are popular for use in applications that require a chemically resistant and non-compressible material. They are the most chemically inert of the O-ring materials and can function in a temperature range from -200°C (-328°F) to 260°C (500°F).
